The MECEE-BL (Medical Education Common Entrance Examination – Bachelor Level) is conducted by the Medical Education Commission (MEC) for admission to MBBS, BDS and other health-science programs across Nepal.

- Zoology — 40 questions
- Botany — 40 questions
- Chemistry — 50 questions
- Physics — 50 questions
- Mental Agility Test (MAT) — 20 questions
Biology together (Zoology + Botany) is 80 marks — the single largest block — so a strong biology base is the fastest route to a competitive score.
Cognitive mix
The paper is built on a 50 : 30 : 20 ratio of recall : understanding : application. Half the paper rewards solid factual memory, so high-yield revision pays off enormously.
How to spend your 3 hours
- First pass (90 min): answer everything you know instantly. Flag anything that needs thought.
- Second pass (60 min): return to flagged questions and work through the calculations and reasoning.
- Final pass (30 min): review, make educated guesses where the odds favour you, and fill the OMR carefully.
Roughly 54 seconds per question on average — but recall questions should take 10–15 seconds, buying you time for numericals.
Golden rules
- Read the stem fully — MECEE loves "which is NOT" and "except" phrasing.
- Don't leave the biggest scoring subjects (Chemistry, Physics) for last when you're tired.
- Manage negative marking deliberately (see the dedicated note).
